Types of Franchises Available

Are you interested in owning a franchise? If you have made it to this section of our site you probably know you want a franchise and now you need to know what opportunities might be available and where to look for people who are selling a business. We will examine what types of franchises you can choose from to see if there is an opportunity worth pursuing. The good news is that most industries have at least one franchise for you to choose from. Most often you will find up to five different companies in an industry. It would be impossible to name all the options out there, so we will look over a few. Some of these opportunities may even surprise you.

  • Accountancy and Financial: There are companies willing to franchise services over products. Accountancy and financial are two industries that allow you to use your education in these services to own and run a business. If you have an accountancy degree you could purchase a franchise for the brand recognition.

  • Automotive franchises are less of a surprise and often quite desirable. Under the automotive category you might find mechanic, brake shops, gas stations, and any other business concerning cars.

  • B2B or business to business franchises are another concept that can be quite interesting. B2B franchises are things like Hotel Express International or The Utility Warehouse in which you offer a service to other businesses.

  • Children Franchises exist and are something you need expertise in. These opportunities look for individuals who can work with children such as day care centres that are franchised. It takes special requirements to even consider this option.

We have mentioned just a few of the franchise industries out there. A point that was just made bears further scrutiny. Some of the franchise industries will require less knowledge. You might be able to start up a coffee franchise with very little coffee background. However, children, plumbing, fitness, and even magazine franchises require special training. If you lack the expertise you can still own the franchise, but you will be required to have a qualified individual to run things. In other words you may be the owner, but you cannot pass yourself off as the expert in the business.

Other opportunities include pet, health and beauty, golf, gardening, restaurant, dating, courier, and education franchises. If you can think of an industry there is probably a franchise for it. Before you begin to search for the types of franchises you might invest in there are some steps to complete.

Get a full accounting of how much you can spend on the franchise. Also consider how much you are willing to spend in order to invest in an opportunity. It is a good idea to know where you want things to be and what you are willing to do before you find opportunities or speak with a franchisor. You will be able to search the industries and base it on location to help you find something in the area you wish to have your business in.
